What a functional home means to us

At Turnkey & Co we design and build homes that are beautiful – but are made for living in. We think of them as functional family homes. So what does this mean to us?

What does a functional home look like?

Homes are for living in, not cleaning! When we design our interiors and select materials, we are constantly balancing a sense of timeless style and what it would be like to live in and use on a daily basis. This level of thought comes in to play right down to the positioning of the drawers in the kitchen and the choice of tile in the bathroom.

While you could assume a home focussed on function could appear boring and solely practical, through a combination of modern materials and design skills, our homes are visually beautiful. Once you are living in and enjoying the space, the functional details of the design becomes even more apparent.

What does family mean?

Family is so important to us, and Turnkey & Co is a family business. It is not unusual during the building process for there to be three generations on site! Jon and Chloe have three young children, so are aware of what families need in a home to accommodate everyone, comfortably and safely for all generations.

Family life is busy, and so a functional home is also one that gives you more leisure time – that is why our materials are easy to clean and our gardens are low maintenance.

We know families come in all shapes and sizes. A family can be a couple with a few cats, a single person looking for a home with an office, a spare bedroom and room to entertain, or a retired couple with grandchildren having a sleepover once a month. Whatever a family looks like, we think they deserve a beautiful home, designed for living.
